The other night we were talking about some format changes that might improve the game for next year. I'll put them up here for people to think about and comment on. If for nothing else it might lead to good conversation tomorrow night
1) Give everyone a set number ( I think it was in the nieghborhood of 5) "Extra" buy ins you can use anytime throughout the year. They come at a higher points price but can be used after your final rebuy for the night.
2) Change the blind structure. The way it is now, you start the night with 10 big blinds which means after one mediocre hand with a couple of calls, your stack is crippled. I a real tournament you start with approximately 100 BB's. A couple ideas tossed around to fix this where:
a) lower the blinds back to $.10. The max rebuys may have been a better solution to wild play then higher blinds.
b) leave the blinds as is, but buy-in for your max $26 right from the begining with no rebuys.
c) change to a "tournament chip" type of buy-in where your $5 gives you 10k chips or something along those lines. We'd have to have a formula for cashing out at the end of the night.
3) I thought there was more, but now I can't remember.

Food for Thought 2
Disregard the previous post, we were hacked by someone who obviously doesn't know what they were talking about. Someone who in their deranged sense of reality was under the impression that they were better then us. Its hard to understand how a persons thoughts can get so twisted. All that is left for us to do is to pity them.

With the next game rapidly approaching, if there aren't any plans made yet, we can have it at my house.
I haven't had time to post anything in a few days, but now that I'm on vacation, more to follow...............

Thats only half the story...
Just like in the media, report some the fluff but leave out the whole truth. After a quick search of the paradise police blotter from 1994 I found this. The story, who's details are too disgusting for me to mention, is about a young Kieth Powell who likes dresses up like a high school girl and cruises around town on Friday nights..........
Notice the shifty eyes and the devious smile
Pagan Golf Photo
I was shocked to see what it is I saw when I zoomed up on "team pagan" in the golf photo. Jer-Bear had horns growing out of his head...... (and apparently intiminated by the size of team Christians sticks)... Matthew didn't want to be recognized playing with those other 3 pagans........ Gary???? Not taking this very seriously?????........ And Rob???? It's not a very good look for you my friend.
After seeing this, I now can see why team Christian won by 7 skins.......

Q8 a love/hate relationship
Why do we love Q8 so much? Perhaps its the perfect hand. If you pair the queen, you have a decent hand. It can fill a straight and suited, a nice flush. There's even the possibility of the all illusive straight flush. We seen quite a few straight flushes, but ironically never 8 through queen. Your opponent will never put you on Q8 if you call a big pre-flop raise and hit the flop, unless you overplay it, every time you get it, like at our little game. But then that begs the next question, Can you really ever over play Q8? It always wins.
We hate to lose to Q8 and we can't stand to fold it just to watch it fill. How many times have we played it to the turn only to say, "I couldn't get away from it" or "I cant believe it didn't fill." Can Poo make a spreadsheet column that compares how much money has been lost chasing Q8 compared to say AK.
We are so infatuated by it, I had to name the website after it. I was only slightly influenced by the fact that all the other good poker names were taken. I hope you like and leave comments. Not comments about the site, but comments about each other. Comments about poor play that leads to miraculous suck-outs and bad beats. The kind of play that only amateurs would try against such skilled players as ourselves.
I'll start:
If you flop a straight, hypothetically for instance, you may feel comfortable enough to slow play it. But what if some else has pocket A's. Letting them get a cheap turn to trips isn't a good move. Because eventually the river boats him to the A's and a third guy boats to K's. Now that little straight doesn't seem quite so good when the two boats are betting $20.
Let the good times roll.
